emotionally, and if you don't know about Friends of Jaclyn, you certainly should. They truly live up to their motto "Live in the Moment, Play in the Moment."
The Friends of Jaclyn Foundation is inspired by Jaclyn Murphy. In 2004, she was diagnosed with a medulloblastoma, a malignant brain tumor, when she was 9
years old. Jaclyn’s strength, courage, relentless spirit and joy for life are an inspiration to those who know her. When granted her “Make-A-Wish,” Jaclyn asked,
“for all the children in the hospitals to be healed.” In 2005, the Northwestern University Women’s Lacrosse team adopted Jaclyn as an honorary team member. She
inspired the Wildcats through a magical “perfect season,” which resulted in NU’s first NCAA National Championship, in any sport, in 64 years. Jaclyn created
lasting friendships with the team. She and her family recognized this positively affected Jaclyn’s happiness and health. Northwestern recognized that their
relationship with Jaclyn opened their eyes and hearts to a deeper appreciation for life.
Jaclyn’s quality of life improved. She wanted other children with pediatric brain tumors to have similar experiences. The Murphys realized that it is ultimately the
love and support of others that gives people the inspiration and courage to get through this kind of journey. The Friends of Jaclyn Foundation improves the quality of
life for everyone involved.
